beautiful things

hey all...wow, what an incredible week off. i went into radio silence last week from the blog, twitter, facebook, et al...and let me say that i did indeed miss you. but it was a good thing and i was able to get a lot of very necessary stuff done.

a couple weeks back i asked the question "are you an artist?" which lead me on my own mental journey...partly through the vast wasteland of self doubt and then finally through lush green vista of encouragement. but as with most things, one question sparks another. i began to ask myself, is art the same as talent? are they interchangeable elements? or, does art infer something that talent does not? i think this is a good question to ask.

so, as you contemplate that, please enjoy this wonderful piece of art by my good friends in the band gungor...in honor of their show last night that i missed. take care...

I do think art and talent are two different things. Good question!
I think sometimes art comes naturally to people and for others it takes them a while to hone it. So those that it comes naturally to, are naturally talented. ;) Almost anyone could be taught how to be an artist of some kind, but talent is God given.

Ah yes, art and talent...Talent is something you do well in which may or may not be art. Not all talents are art, but all art is a talent if you do it well. That said, this type of art you speak of infers more than paint; it is a moving, flowing organism having to do with creation. This idea of art broadens its domain into city walls and pastures as you say. It would be interesting to see what the word art means in other languages; languages that speak in flowers.
