everything falls apart

all at once? overwhelmed? too much to handle?

isn't just that way sometimes? things seem to be going great....or even just a little 'normal' and 'consistent', and then without warning...the set comes. wave after wave after wave....you start to go under but come back up to the surface just long enough to see the next wave coming down on top of you.

i've recently talked with two friends that have relayed their feelings of things in their lives crumbling down around them...all at once.

a job loss, then an unexpected medical emergency, then mounting bills, then christmas...

another...

an ailing father who decides to forgo any further medical treatment beginning the slow decline of life, then a son sent away to war...only to hear his other son is enlisting in the military...soon to be sent away to fight.

doesn't it seem unfair? to be handed so much and be expected to deal with it all at once? the only response after you breakdown is to slowly begin to chip away...one issue at a time.

this type temporary torture is inevitable to us all. but the thing that makes me marvel about human beings is how we don't give up. we may want to. or try to. but eventually, we begin to climb back up the hill...out of the valley. but we don't do it on our own.

god loves us. he created us and he loves us. he gives us friends. family. perspective. hope. all we need to do is take it. it's there.

be encouraged. less of me...

Knowing I'm not going through these times for nothing helps. And knowing I'm not struggling alone helps even more.

this was good to read - I always think of Job in tough times - and that scripture in luke that says 'do not become weighed down with the anxieties of life' and the other one in peter that says 'while you throw all your anxiety upon him because he cares for you'
