you say it's your birthday?

so, my beautiful bride had a birthday this weekend. to celebrate, she wanted to spend a day with her family which i thought was a great idea...so we talked a bit and after getting a little direction about what she'd like to do, i came up with an itinerary.

Breakfast at Bab's - other then my breakfast...this is our very favorite place. it was truly a great way for us all to start. the weather was beautiful as we sat outside and ate. We could tell it was going to be a great day!

Next was THE MUSEE MECANIQUE on Pier 45 in SF. this was the coolest arcade museum ever! it was all pre-computer arcade games. we brought a couple of roles of quarters and went crazy. it was awesome!

we drifted down marina and stopped at....

Fort Point National Historic Site - seriously....we could have spent all day here. this 4 story brick fort was built back in the early 1800's and sits right at the base of the golden gate bridge on the SF side. it was amazing. truly amazing. the engineering was incredible and the location was simply breath taking. we're definitely going back here.

then over the bridge....

we stopped for dinner at this great little italian place that sharon used to eat at when she was a little girl. la ginestra was fantastic! i had the best ravioli i've ever had. the kids shared a cheese pizza that they all raved about. afterwards, we strolled over to baskin robbins. sharon had her first job here. everyone got ice cream and we sat in the depot and enjoyed the atmosphere. one stop to go...

we drove up to bodega bay for the sunset. it was a perfect little drive up 101. the kids got to rest a little and sharon and i got to speak without being interrupted. :-) we arrived at schoolhouse beach around 7:45pm. it was a bit cold...but we all love the ocean so much that it barely mattered. we walked around on the beach, climbing on rocks, playing in the sand, snapping pictures (sharon was). slowly the sun drifted down into the horizon. it was incredible!

back in the car as we drove home basking in the delight of our wonderful day! happy birthday baby. i love you....
