new music: begin again

hey...so, awhile back i promised some new music...well, in true JS fashion, i've lagged on that....but i'm happy to say your wait has come to an end. you can click here to listen to a demo of a new song called 'begin again'.

sharon always likes me to clarify the story of this song when i sing it for people. well, first off...i love my front porch, and about a year ago i decided to spend some time writing songs whilst (did you like that?) sitting out there. i have trouble sometimes, getting started on songs...and on this particular day i was noodling around (technical term) on my guitar and could hear my neighbors arguing with each other really loudly. this ended up becoming a pretty regular occurrence. in fact, they ended up splitting up, which is really sad. i felt a little guilty having a front row seat to the demise of their relationship, but the whole experience really made me think a lot about how people start at a place of love and bliss and then end up hating each other...or at least acting like it. the verses really go through that emotion, but the chorus kind of answers it with hope that tomorrow will be a better day, if we just hang on. i like songs that offer hope...you know? any how...here it is. i hope you enjoy it. leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

listen here.

thanks for your comments on my blog, i really enjoyed your wife's blog, you have gorgeous kids and where you live looks pretty incredible too! I found your family blogs interesting because we have four kids a boy and three girls like you (the baby is 6 months) and I often wonder how that will work out for my son being the oldest and being the only boy and as you have the same combination I would be interested to know how you think it works as your kids are a little older than my own, i think...

thanks again, we are very jealous of those amazing beaches, we do have a few incredible beaches like that here in the UK but you have to be brave enough to cope with some very very cold water!!
