Letting go...

I need to let go. I'm holding on and I need to let go. I've talked about it every day. I've tried to pretend it didn't happen. I've lashed out. I've acknowledged it and refused to discuss it....and now, I have to actually deal with it. I'm pissed. I'm hurt. I'm defensive...protective. I want to hit someone. I need to let go. I'm going to set up new boundaries and I will never again walk beyond them....but I need to begin...again. At some point, I might walk up to the new fence and look out over the hillside full of gopher holes and cow turd and overgrown weeds, but I'll never cross over that new fence. It's really hard. But I know I need to do it....I need to let go.

Wow, Jeramy. You are right, we all need to let go of something in our lives. I could not have read this at a better time. I am dealing with things that I need to let go of and never walk beyond that fence. Thanks for the inspiration.

There is a big difference between setting boundaries and building walls. Walls keep things out and hold things in, but boundaries allow you to share in a healthy way and lets people know when they are crossing the line. God created us to be free and we need to be responsible with that freedom. Not everybody is responsible with those freedoms and lack self control with others. So we need healthy boundaries in place so we can have healthy relationships with others.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

Slavery can be MANY things. Abusive or unhealthy relationships, drugs, not being able to deal with hurts in our lives, etc.

walls=bad

healthy boundaries= good

Jeramy,
Hope you can let go of whatever it is! I have lots to let go of also, sometimes not so easy to do. I know it is possible and you will make it!
